New boiler installation in Blackpool

We are based in Blackpool, so this is the area we cover most closely — from Bispham in the north down to Marton, Layton and Squires Gate. Every system is sized on a free heat-loss survey before it is priced.

Boiler installation across FY1 to FY4

Blackpool housing is mixed in a way that matters once you open a floor up, and the property type decides more about a boiler job here than the budget does. These are the four we meet most.

Bispham and the north — semis still on gravity hot water

North of the town the stock is mostly inter-war and post-war semis, and a good number are still running a system boiler with a cylinder and a tank in the loft, much as it was first fitted. Converting one of those to a sealed system is what we are called out for around Bispham more than anything else. The tank comes out, the pipework is cleaned before anything new goes on it, and the airing cupboard comes back.

Terraces off the promenade — the flue decides the job

On the terraces there is rarely a loft to work with and the elevation you can terminate a flue on is restricted, so where the boiler can physically sit is settled before anything else. The condensate run matters too — it needs to fall somewhere sensible and it needs to not be the first thing to freeze in January. We work both out on the survey rather than on the morning of the install.

Seafront flats — termination and access

Flats bring their own constraints: where the flue can terminate on a shared elevation, whether the building’s owner needs to agree to it, and how a boiler gets up there on the day. None of it is difficult, but all of it is worth knowing before you have paid for an appliance.

Holiday lets — demand in bursts, and a certificate to keep

A let is not sized like a house. Several people showering across one morning and then nothing for six hours is a different hot water profile, and it usually points at a different answer on the cylinder question. Once it is let it also needs a landlord gas safety certificate every 12 months.

Building Regulations and your paperwork

A new boiler is notifiable under Building Regulations Part L. We file it, so you never deal with Blackpool Council about it, and the Gas Safe certificate follows from the registration rather than from anything we print ourselves. The Benchmark log book is filled in on the day and the warranty is registered in your name before we leave.

Questions about a new boiler in Blackpool

Our Bispham semi still has a tank in the loft — can that go?
Usually, yes. Converting an open-vented system to a sealed one takes the loft tank and the cylinder out and frees the airing cupboard, and it is one of the jobs we do most around the north of the town. It is more work than a straight swap, so we survey it and price it as the conversion it is rather than as a boiler change.
We are in a mid-terrace with no loft — where does the flue go?
On a terrace the flue and the condensate run are usually what decides where the boiler can sit, not the kitchen layout. We work that out on the survey and tell you what it means before you choose an appliance, because it is the part of the job that is expensive to get wrong.
Does a holiday let need anything different?
The installation is the same, but the demand is not — a let with several people showering in one morning is sized differently from a house. It also needs a landlord gas safety certificate every 12 months once it is let, which we can pick up on the same visit.
